My name is Diane Wani and I am a Sales Representative with Sutton Group Old Mill Realty Inc., Brokerage, located at 4237 Dundas Street West (just east of Royal York Road, west end of Toronto, also known as Etobicoke).
I grew up in Scarborough and attended St. Andrew’s Public School, Highbrook Senior Public School and David and Mary Thomson CI. I graduated from the University of Guelph, where I majored in Computing and Information Science and Business Administration.
I had an enjoyable and challenging 17 year career in Information and Technology; the last 13 years working for a major Canadian bank as a Project Manager, Resource Manager and Client Services Manager.
I had the opportunity to be a presenter for a remarkable organization called Scientists in School. My job was to inspire young children and show them that learning about science can be fun.
I was a member of the volunteer Canadian Ski Patrol System organization for 24 years, as a Patroller, Patrol Leader, First Aid Instructor/Examiner and First Aid Training Centre Co-ordinator. Music has always been a passion in my life having studied the piano and cello. I sang with the University of Guelph Choir and the Toronto Concertsingers. In my youth I was a figure skater and a figure skating judge.
I have been a volunteer with the Etobicoke Humane Society since October 2012 and was on the Board of Directors as Director of Dogs (June 2015-June 2017). I was an active parent volunteer at Park Lawn Junior Middle School and the Etobicoke School of the Arts.
I decided that I wanted to have some different experiences in my life and thought that a different career would be a great opportunity to do that. Looking back on my past corporate and volunteer experience, I thoroughly enjoyed working with people and being part of a team to achieve the goals set before us.
In 2008, I decided that a career in real estate would be a great opportunity to use the project management, client relationship, problem solving, technical and organizational skills that I obtained from my past work experience. Being able to work with individuals and families and help them achieve their dreams of purchasing their first home or moving into their next dream home is what makes real estate a wonderful career and not just a job.
I am the type of person who wants to make a difference in their community. I have lobbied for traffic safety initiatives within my neighbourhood and worked with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and the Toronto Zoo on their Road Ecology project in the Lower Humber River Watershed. I was a volunteer member on the Education Committee for the Toronto Real Estate Board.
I have lived in Scarborough, Thornhill, Mississauga and downtown Toronto. I have lived in the wonderful Humber Bay/Sunnylea community for over 25 years!
I enjoy long walks with my dog, travelling, gardening, going to concerts and the theatre. Spending time with my family is very important to me and I am very thankful for their support in my real estate career.
Thank you for taking a few moments to learn about me. Tell me about yourself via the comments below.
